🎁 Tis the season of giving 🎁

As we step into December, generosity is all around us. As I reflect on that, I am reminded giving isn't only about the material things. Every community has needs, and each of us has something meaningful to offer.

✨ Professionally ✨ In DFW (and across the globe in many metro areas), professional organizations such as the International Association of Business Communicators and the American Marketing Association dedicate their talents to local non-profits that may not have the expansive staff or budget available for professional communications support. Individually, seasoned leaders can give back to young professionals by offering career advice, reviewing resumes, or industry insights. My colleague and friend, Bruce Raben, spent two full days over this Thanksgiving holiday doing just that. It's an investment of time that can mean so much for the people he helps.

Tis the Season of Giving

✨ In the Community ✨ If you still consume the local news like me, there's no secret that local nonprofits are working tirelessly this season. The Tarrant Area Food Bank continuously requires food donations, the Presbyterian Night Shelter provides critical support for the unhoused during cold nights, and the Arlington Life Shelter seeks donations - financial and necessities - to continue serving families in need.

✨ Personally ✨ And don't forget yourself. In the spirit of giving, give yourself grace. Many of us face pressing deadlines on top of special holiday campaigns and family gatherings. It can all become overwhelming very quickly. There's nothing wrong with allowing space. Remember rest, reflection, and boundaries are sustaining gifts you can give yourself every day of the year.

When we focus on giving, we are often rewarded intrinsically by doing so, and more importantly, we create impact that lasts beyond the season.

How are you choosing to give this month?
