Using time away to rest and recharge
A couple of weeks ago, I shared thoughts on making time for the important things in life and how to maximize the free time you do have. Multitasking can be smart, but at some point, you’ve got to dedicate time away for yourself.
Because here’s the truth: Constant busyness doesn’t equal productivity, and without intentional breaks, your creativity and energy can start to run on empty. If you’re fortunate to work at a company that offers paid time off - take it! No one is handing out medals for banking the most PTO hours.
⚡️ Use your time off as fuel. Rest isn’t wasted time, it’s an investment. When you pause, you give your mind time to rest and reset, which often leads to sharper ideas and stronger problem-solving.
📍Go and be. Set up a trip fund and add to it little by little throughout the year. Then treat yourself to exploring a new place. It doesn’t have to be some huge event. The change of scenery alone can spark fresh perspective. Exploration, even on a small scale, can help challenge you in new ways.
⚖️ Work-life balance sustains. Balance isn’t about perfection. It’s about creating rhythms that allow you to show up fully at work and at home. When you prioritize time for yourself, you build a better career, and more importantly, a better personal life.
With time comes wisdom, and I have learned that working hard is a blessing; but resting well is a necessity. Time off isn‘t a luxury; it’s a strategy. It’s how we all recharge, reconnect, and return with clarity. So, I’ll ask, when’s the last time you’ve taken extended time off, and where did you go? (I may or may not be asking for selfish vacation inspiration. 😆)
