In my nearly three decades of crafting messages, I've learned that writing rarely begins with the words themselves. Long before I put pen to paper or type out words on a screen, I listen. 

We live in a world where attention has become currency — literally and figuratively. In the U.S., TikTok has more than 90 million users who spend nearly an hour on the platform every single day.

At the end of the day, I simply love words. It's been a lifelong affair that began with reading, and I feel incredibly fortunate to pair that passion with my livelihood.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the amount of change (read: chaos) we’re bearing witness to in this season. I know change is always happening, but right now, it seems like A LOT. 

A husband, a father, a drum major for justice - Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He was many things to many people, but at his core, he was a man who refused to stay silent about the things that mattered. He spoke boldly; not because it was easy, but because it was necessary.

“You’ve got two ears and one mouth for a reason.” Anyone else grow up hearing that? Sometimes those simple childhood lessons become the most relevant in adulthood.

You know what’s coming in less than two weeks: the flood of “new year, new me” posts declaring that 2026 is going to be the year.
