Beyond the scroll

We live in a world where attention has become currency — literally and figuratively. In the U.S., TikTok has more than 90 million users who spend nearly an hour on the platform ... every single day. Celebrities and social media influencers like Selena Gomez, Chiara Ferragni, and Huda Kattan have built entire empires on visibility and virality. Their success is driven by speed, volume, and constant output, but depth, intention, and meaning are often left behind.

We're all social media consumers, engaging multiple times throughout the day, and we scroll past an endless stream of content designed to grab our attention or stop us mid-swipe. It's a lot. We are drowning in information and starved for knowledge.

As a professional communicator, of course I want my content to be seen, but more than that, I want to create meaningful and actionable connections. Writing for attention is fast. It's loud, and it's engineered to perform. Conversely, writing for connection is slower. It's intentional, and it's crafted to resonate and inspire action.

While it's tempting to chase trends and lean into algorithms, I believe it's more important to write for connection. I think about why I do what I do; about why I have this passion for words. It's because I enjoy telling stories that matter with clarity and purpose. Ultimately, I want to intentionally create meaning that lasts longer than a millisecond on someone's feed. So, I've resigned myself. My content is probably not going to go viral. It's not designed to. It's created to go deeper, build trust, and leave an impression on hearts and minds.

This is the foundation of what I'm building at Authentic Impressions — writing that doesn't just capture attention but earns connection. My writing reflects the genuine voices of my clients to help them reach the audiences they serve with honesty and heart. It's writing that feels human in a digital world that often forgets to be. At the end of the day, slow and steady can win the race too. And that's the kind of brand I'm committed to building.

Authentic storytelling builds trust. If your organization is ready for messaging that resonates, let’s talk.
