Blog Post Article

The other day when I had too many things to accomplish, I got sucked into the vortex of the social media scroll. One of my online friends posted this image with the verbiage: Don’t fake it till you make it. That’s garbage advice. Face it till you make it. Get up. Work hard. Fail. Stand back up. Face it again. Do a little better. Fail again. Get back up.

I was so moved by this. Many of us have heard and maybe even repeated that mantra of just fake it till you make it. And maybe that does get us by for a time, but I think, like this image implies, we’ve got to do the hard work and push through the faking it.

For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, Proverbs 24:16a (NIV)

As people in Christ, we should know we are not perfect; but we are forgiven and thankful for this grace and mercy God has bestowed upon us. We also know, we are going to face tests. We are going to falter. We are going to fall. The testimony comes in facing these failures and getting back up again and again.

We may fall seven times, but we must get up eight. There may be times when we feel as though God has abandoned us (Spoiler alert: He has not, and He will not). But we’ve got to keep facing life and looking toward Him, our ever-present Help. When life gets you down, keep coming to church. When there are more bills than money, trust Him with your finances. When the doctor gives a bleak physical outlook; draw upon your spiritual strength remembering He is Jehovah Rapha. He is our Healer. Get back up. Try again. Do again. Speak again. Seek again. You may fail, but as long as you remain in Christ, you win. Jesus Christ died on that cross, so that we all may win.

For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (I John 5:4) And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is his Son. (I John 5:11)
(NIV)

Please don’t think that I am taking life’s challenges lightly. The problems we face can sometimes seem insurmountable because they are happening to us. I know issues are not solved by an aptly-worded meme on social media. Nor am I saying that we can simply ask God for what we want like He’s a genie in a bottle. What I am saying is we must put our trust in God, our Father, knowing that His plans are always the best ones. When we, as believers, feel as though we are drowning, we have a Source, and He’s got it covered. Just look to Him. Trust Him. Friends, don’t fake it till you make it. Trust Him, and you will make it.

If you don’t know Jesus, I encourage you to find a Bible-based church and give Him a chance. He will change your life, and equip you to deal with the challenges that life throws at us. And when we reach the end, I pray that He will tell us all, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Let’s pray together.

Heavenly Father, thank You for this day, thank You for Your protection, thank You for Your provision, and thank You for Your Son, Jesus Christ. I know there may be hard times ahead, but please help me remember You in the midst of life’s storms. Please calm my anxious soul through the Holy Spirit that dwells within me. And please give me the strength to push through tough times knowing that I have the victory in You. I thank You, and I love You. Amen.
